“God is light; in him there is no darkness at all” (I J 1:5)
“him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” (I P 2:9)
Yesterday more tornadoes struck in Oklahoma, and the resulting photos of looming darkness fill my conscious. I feel like I am starting the day in the greyness of an oppressive cloud.
But as I pray, thanks be to God that he is completely light! And that he has brought me into His wonderful light!
His love wraps around me like a beautiful summer morning, warm, full of light and life.
“For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made his light shine in our hearts.” (II Cor 4:6)
Today, I am walking in sunlight. His countenance is shining on me.
And may I remember every good thing about Him, and fill myself with this, that I will have this to draw on as I go about my day.
“A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him” (Matt 12:5)
“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eye is single, your whole body will be filled with light.” (Matt 6:22)
Let me eye be single today. May I only see God’s goodness. May my heart not be darkened by fear, by seeing the storm clouds of the world.
“my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” Ps 23:5
