The Apple of His Eye

This is Jerusalem, which I have set in the center of the nations, with countries all around her.  Ez 5:5

For the LORD’s portion is his people, Jacob his allotted inheritance.  In a desert land he found him, in a barren and howling waste. He shielded him and cared for him; he guarded him as the apple of his eye.  Deut 32:10

As the Israelites were God’s portion, his chosen people, today we are his chosen people.  As once Jerusalem and the temple was God’s dwelling place, today our bodies are the temple of God, His dwelling place.

When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”  (Luke 5:4)

I was chosen, as Simon Peter was, as the focus of Jesus’ attention.  God worked in my life in many tangible ways to bring me to Him.

Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will catch men.” So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.

And God gave me a purpose, as he did Peter.  He gave me a life.  He spoke to the deepest places in my heart and inspired me.

We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. For if the message spoken by angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, how shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation?  (Heb 2:1-2)

Because you have defiled my sanctuary with all your vile images and detestable practices, I myself will withdraw my favor.  Eze 5

You must keep the Israelites separate from things that make them unclean, so they will not die in their uncleanness for defiling my dwelling place, which is among them.’”  Lev 15:31

I must treat my calling seriously.  I must be in awe, consumed with gratitude and trembling, at what I have been given. I must be faithful.  I must keep myself pure.

Both the one who makes men holy and those who are made holy are of the same family.  Heb 2:11  For this reason he had to be made like his brothers in every wayBecause he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

But Jesus will help keep me faithful.  He will shield me and care for me. As I studied yesterday, he will rescue me from every evil attack.  I am his chosen daughter.

Lord, help me today, I pray.

Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings  Ps 17:8
