Rescue: The Great Salvation

We have a great salvation.  “…how shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation?” ( Heb 2)

The salvation is great because the power of good vanquished the power of evil, rescuing us from slavery to darkness. “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves”  Col 1:13   “While we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.” (Romans 5) “Who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age.”  (Gal 1:4)

The salvation is so great that God gave us angels to assist us: Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation? (Heb 1)  The salvation is glorious.  Jesus “tasted death” for everyone so he could bring “many sons to glory.” (Heb 2)

And because we have a great salvation through our faithful God, we can be confident that we will continue to be saved.  “He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.” (I Cor 1:8)

“It is he who rescued us from so imminent a death, and will do so again; and we have a firm hope in Him that He will also rescue us in the future.  (II Cor 1:10)

Who will rescue us from this body of death? Thanks be to God.  (Romans 7)

And the Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom (II Timothy 4:8)
